What's going on in Scale...
2005 'O' Scale National Convention.
I know it says "HO" on the masthead...but Scale is SCALE and there's a whole lot going on in "O" Scale these days. This June's 2005 O Scale Nationals is right around the corner and they have four great days of activities lined up. The convention will be held in St Louis June 15-18. Check it out on their website at http://www.geocities.com/bbrrclub/schedule/schedule.html.

Speaking of O Scale, I seem to be running into a lot of modelers who are switching to O scale. The most popular reason I hear is "these old eyes just aren't what they used to be." But maybe that's just the easy thing to say. Besides aging eyes, this group seems to also have time and money in common. Perhaps at this time of life, change helps keep things interesting and the switch to O scale is one more inviting change. Also at this same time, O scale is enjoying an explosion of new products...as is the rest of the hobby. It doesn't really matter whether the demand is driving new products or new products are drawing people to O scale. Either way, it's a great time to be an O Scaler. While I'm personally not ready to "biggie size" just yet, it's great to know I'll have something to do if I ever have too much money, too much time, or just old eyes.
